How becoming a member benefits you
By becoming a member you're safeguarding the continuation of farmland in the UK, ensuring that we can produce the food we need to feed our population.
As the National Farmland Trust grows we hope to increase our land holding thereby enabling us to offer our members a variety of benefits, as well as a continuous supply of food.
Are our membership fees expensive?
Our membership fees are inline with other organisations such as English Heritage and The National Trust, but farmland is expensive and it takes about 100 members to buy every acre of Farmland, that will provide our food for hundreds of years.
£100 from every membership goes directly into Land/Farm purchase, which then becomes farmland protected for future generations.
Only £20 is used for administration or legal fees, so by becoming a member you are helping to purchase and protect a small piece of land which is then held under the Trust's care, protecting it for all generations to come.
What does the trust do with the land it purchases?
Firstly, the land is fenced, new hedges and trees planted along fence lines and in places unsuitable for agriculture. Buildings are repaired, houses renovated etc., soils are tested to see what type of agriculture suits them best, then the farm or land is let to a person or family who will farm the land, helping to provide food for the population.
Sometimes if the location and roads give good access, the Trust will open the farm to the public, showing agriculture from seed to harvest, providing farm shop outlets and on-farm experiences to our members and the general public.

The annual membership fee is £120 of which £100 goes directly into land purchase (only £20 towards legal or administration charges)
